ASL Class
I’ve become some sort of a class clown in my ASL level 2 class. In my class, the teacher is deaf himself, so no talking is allowed, only signing. Sometimes I wonder if I went to a deaf school and understood everything, I’d be a troublemaker. Maybe it’s a good thing that I went to a hearing school and made jokes only when I could (when I understood something) and was percieved as a “nice funny student” as opposed to “disruptive girl who thinks she’s funny all the time…”.
Funny how different situations make me behave differently. Too many times, people ask me “Why are you so quiet today?” since it seems “uncharacteristic” of me. They don’t realize that not understanding everything (or even just some) makes me quiet. Chances are: 1) I’m gonna repeat something someone else already said. 2) I’m gonna misunderstand something, and respond to it, confusing everyone. 3) I’m just gonna say something totally random, confusing (or amusing?) everyone.
Now, I’m sure people are thinking “Oh so THAT’S why she’s so random….”
